The Cougars had multiple athletic teams in action since the last update. On Thursday (10/29), men's golf team finished up at the Rambler Classic. The team finished 3rd out of 3 with a team score of 950. The Cougars best individual scorer was Austin Egbers. Austin had a combined round of 234 which tied him for 10th overall. This was the Cougars last golf meet until the 2015 spring season starts. The stats for the tournament can be found here.
The women's soccer team had two matches this week and finished their season today. Due to a cancellation earlier in the year, the Cougars played UMKC on Friday and Sunday.. in a home and away. The team lost 8-0 on Friday and 13-0 today. It is a very rough ending to the their season; however, they really should be proud of what they accomplished. They're made up of only freshmen.. by far the youngest NCAA D1 school. They were able to win at UAPB early this season as well as tie UTPA in the conference opener. If this team sticks together, they're going to be contending for a championship in a couple years.
The volleyball team lost to Bakersfield 3-0 on Saturday. Their next match is Thursday at UVU. Once again, they have to get a win prior to their match against UTPA to have a chance to qualify for the WAC tournament. Hopefully they'll be able to get one to go their way.
Finally, the men and women's XC team wrapped up their season at the WAC Championship. The women's team finished 7th out of 7 and the men's team finished 8th out of 8.in Although both finished last for the second year in a row, they lowered their team score significantly. Both squads are fairly young so let's hope we'll see some better success next year.
Anyone else ready for basketball to start?!
